The SEIU Education & Support Fund—a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of developing and managing worker-centered training and professional development programs—hosted their first annual We Empower Providers Assembly (WEPA) in Rhode Island in early February. They welcomed nearly 200 family child care providers and assistants to gather for a day of community building, learning, and advocacy.
Participants attended a plenary on “Building Bridges Between Quality Improvement and Leadership Development,” participated in a gallery walk, visited a resource fair where they could learn about education and advocacy opportunities, engaged with each other in breakout sessions on relevant topics, and listened to a keynote speech from All Our Kin about trends in the industry.
